Midwest Buck Sale Event-Where the Meat meets the money 2019 Sedalia, Missouri

Such a busy and interesting week! Lots of great speakers/doctors about health, parasite resistance and worming, feed management/minerals and everything in between...several great vendors, knowledgeable South African judges and an entire event full of great people and goats. We've watched goats in the show ring without halters or collars...let loose to walk freely as the judges examined each animal individually. Once finished they'd go back with a handler (not specifically the owner) and are lined up in order of placement. The animals were ranked based on the South African standard, not the opinion of a judge or judges. There was a nice variety of meat animals to look at and talk over. People from across the country came together to learn and discuss so much information about the goat industry in the Untied States. It didn't matter if you had Boers, Kalahari Reds, Savannas, Kiko, Myotonic and so on! I particularity really enjoyed Dr. Alison Crane from Kansas State University. Meat goats in America are becoming more popular and the market is on the rise! The goal is to work together to create productive animals that will continue to prosper year after year! It was a wonderful event and I was excited to be a part of it!
